Tamara’s Foundation

Tamara, a wife and mother of two small children, at the age of 34 was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2006. After a long series of aggressive treatments, the cancer metastasized to her liver in January 2009 and eventually spread throughout her body. She passed away on December 17, 2009. Tamara freely chose to trust and love God, and His grace and mercy rained down on her continuously.

There is so much we will never understand this side of heaven but occasionally when our will aligns with His we get a glimpse of the eternal in the present. God’s love flowed through her to everyone she came in contact with as she lived out her faith every day.

2 Corinthians 2

14But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. 15For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

2 Corinthians 3

16But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4

15All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Her story is of God’s faithfulness and peace that exceeds understanding.

Tamara’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. I've created it both to keep friends and family updated about my treatment and to reveal to you God's amazing grace.  If you don't know Him, I am going to introduce you to the Supplier of strength, power, wisdom and endurance.  He is my Rock, my Salvation and my Hope and I want Him to be yours, as well.

I will try to keep the history of my story brief and add some from time to time to let you know how we came to this place in our lives.  As it pertains to Cancer; however, I was diagnosed in May of 2006 with Breast Cancer.  I had Chemotherapy, Surgery and Radiation at that time.  My cancer is a very aggressive form of cancer and the treatment was, as well.  I was placed on a maintenance medication for a year and at the end of that year I was doing great.  Within 3 months, I found out the cancer had spread to my liver.  I went on an oral form of Chemotherapy and responded very well.  Another year passed and it was discovered to be growing again on my liver. At this point it is Jan.2009, and I am switched to another kind of chemo. I now have a port through which medication can be administered. On July 31st an MRI revealed my cancer has now spread to my brain.  There are multiple lesions in several areas of my brain.

I have been battling cancer since May 2006 and plan to do so for a very long time.  All of this appears to be really bad news, but there have been so many blessings along the way. I hope you will benefit in some way from reading of my unique experience.

John and I married in 97...had Chad in 2001 & moved to Nash.  We moved to KY in 2004 and had Matthew.  We started going to Highview Baptist as soon as we got here and fell in love with it. You are our family.

August 5, 2009

I had my first whole brain radiation treatment today. I thought it was supposed to be at 4:00, but come to find out it was at 11:30. Anyway, they did it about 1:30. I am doing well. Thank you for thinking of me and praying for me.

Please continue to do that. I'm pretty emotional, big shock, huh? I'm hoping it's a little worse because of the steriods, but who knows. John and I have committed again to be thankful for each day because we realize each day is a blessing.

Chad is feeling a little better. He still has a lot of congestion. My mom should be here any moment. That will be a huge comfort. I will update soon. Thanks and I love each of you!
